New Facility Commissioning

With the successful commissioning of facilities throughout Africa over the last two decades, we have a great deal of experience of especially the South African regulatory framework for licensing and the subsequent registration with the DOH (Department of Health), BHF (Board of Healthcare Funders), NHN (National Hospital Network), and then the Medical aid DSP's (Designated Service Provider).

Not only does your facility have to comply to all the regulatory frameworks guidelines for a healthcare facility, but the correct service contracts needs to be in place, the correct equipment needs to be installed, and the correct healthcare staff need to be employed to successfully navigate the facility through all of these checkpoints.

The commissioning process starts early in the construction phase and runs in parallel up to the "first patient" day and beyond.

What we do

Commissioning essentially comprises three phases: pre-commissioning, commissioning, and post-commissioning.

We can assist in the following areas of the commissioning process:

  • Backward timeframe planning from opening target date

  • Organisational development

  • Specialist doctor recruitment

  • Health technology planning

  • ICT planning

  • Service provider planning

  • The kitting-out process

  • Policies, procedures, and other relevant operational documents

  • Onboarding of staff and equipment

  • Training

  • Inspection and operational dry runs

  • Inspections
